Selene publishes its 2025 Sustainability Report: advancing circular economy, innovation and responsible growth

Selene S.p.A. is pleased to announce the publication of its 2025 Sustainability Report, a comprehensive document that highlights the company's achievements, investments and commitments in environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters. The report reflects Selene's ongoing commitment to creating long-term value through responsible business practices, innovation and sustainable industrial development.

Prepared in alignment with the principles of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), the report marks another important step in integrating sustainability into Selene's business strategy and decision-making processes. 

A Sustainable Vision Driving Industrial Excellence

For more than 60 years, Selene has been developing and manufacturing flexible packaging solutions for industrial markets. Today, the company employs 196 people, serves customers in 25 countries, and operates an increasingly integrated and circular production model that combines manufacturing, recycling and innovation. 

Throughout 2025, Selene continued to strengthen its sustainability journey by achieving several important milestones, including:

• Obtaining FSSC 22000 certification for food safety management.
• Further developing the Santa Margherita recycling hub.
• Expanding product applications into new market sectors.
• Strengthening ESG integration across corporate governance and business operations.

Circular Economy at the Core of Selene's Business Model

A key focus of the 2025 Sustainability Report is the company's commitment to the circular economy.

Through its Santa Margherita facility, dedicated to plastic recovery and regeneration, Selene transforms post-consumer and industrial plastic waste into Premium Recycled Polymer (PRP), a high-quality secondary raw material that can be reintroduced into production processes through a closed-loop approach. 

During 2025, the recycling facility processed approximately 3,966 tonnes of plastic waste, generating more than 3,933 tonnes of recycled raw material, demonstrating the efficiency and effectiveness of Selene's circular production model. 

Innovative Products with Recycled Content

The report also highlights the environmental benefits achieved through the development of packaging solutions containing recycled polymers.

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies show measurable improvements:

• NextHood™, containing 30% PRP, delivers an average 20% reduction in environmental impact compared to a conventional virgin-polymer alternative. 
• NextBag™, containing 50% PRP, achieves an average 28% reduction in environmental impact, with improvements of up to 42% in fossil resource use. 

These results confirm Selene's commitment to developing packaging solutions that combine sustainability, technical performance and reliability. 

Investing in People, Skills and Safety

At Selene, sustainability is also about people.

In 2025:

• More than 98% of employees participated in training activities.
• The company delivered 3,695 hours of training.
• 46 employees advanced to a higher professional level and 6 employees changed roles within the organization.
• Continued investments were made in employee welfare, inclusion, professional development and workplace safety. 

By investing in human capital, Selene continues to strengthen expertise, innovation and long-term business resilience.
